Mrs Naturist4life and I had the opportunity to enjoy a weekend getaway to Florida’s east coast recently, one of our favorite spots. On the naturist agenda — Apollo and Playalinda.
Apollo
We have visited Apollo several times and have always enjoyed it. Up to now, we’ve considered it “our nude beach”. On this visit, we arrived fairly late in the afternoon. Uncharacteristically, parking was not a problem and the beach was only sparsely populated, but most everyone was nude.
We chose to go to the left off the boardwalk. With only one person in that direction, a nude solo gentleman, it gave us ample privacy, something I felt more akin to on this particular day. Beyond us, towards lot 4, the beach was completely deserted. I’m talking no one! It made for a nice walk.
We only stayed a few hours. When we left, there were only about 10 people there total. As we walked out, I kind of got an odd vibe. Just a gut feel. A number of solo men, all hovering, seeming somewhat out of place, some nude but most covered up, stood out. Gawkers perhaps? I’ve never seen this at Apollo before. But I’ve also never been there late in the day. Hopefully an isolated thing or my read of the situation was way off. Even with that oddity, it was still a nice visit.
Playalinda
This was actually my first time at Playalinda. What a gem! We absolutely loved it. Several reasons why:
First, it’s a much easier beach to visit. When we arrived, lot 13, adjacent to the nude area, was full. But lot 12 is very close and had well over a dozen open spots. We did our research beforehand and knew that the nude area frequently spans Lots 13-11, even down to 10 on busy days. As we came up the boardwalk of 12 I was happy to see all nudies, beautiful and proud.
Second, Playalinda is easier to traverse. Apollo’s sand is more coarse and it’s deep, making walking a bit more challenging. Playalinda is much softer, and when the tide is out especially, a much easier to walk.
Third, it’s full of activity. Not busy mind you but active. A lot of walking, playing in the surf, even some beach sports. We saw all types around the lot 12 area — young, old, regulars, first timers, full nude, partial nude, a good gender balance, etc…. It is very much a true naturist beach. The vibe is of acceptance, respect, and simple celebration of nature and the ability to enjoy it nude. We stayed most of the day. It was pure bliss.
We enjoyed Playalinda so much that we came back the next morning, before we headed home. Same vibe.
If you find yourself in the Florida Space Coast, I highly recommend both Apollo and Playalinda. In fact, I recommend coming to the Space Coast FOR Apollo and Playalinda. If the nude beach experience is on your bucket list, you’ll be happy you did. Yes, Blind Creek is just down the road to the South. It’s a bit more of a hike for us. But we’ll make it there eventually. For now, Apollo and Playalinda are our “go-to” nude beaches — close, accessible, fun. What’s not to love!
we have a house in the area partly because of playlinda and we agree great beach but you are right pay a visit to blind creek and haulover to
Haven't been to Playalinda (or anywhere in FL for that matter) for more than 20 years, but it's good to hear the beach is popular. On my few visits hardly anyone else was there.
